Training & Support. . .
Training and support
is offered for the following major reform efforts:
-
Fostering and
sustaining the use of effective instructional
strategies—system-wide. This work builds on Marzano’s books,
The Art and Science of Teaching,
Classroom Management That Works, and
Classroom Instruction That Works. We can
help systems institutionalize the use of research-based
strategies in a way that honors teacher autonomy and
individual creativity.
-
Using
formative classroom assessments and grading practices that
provide effective feedback to students. This work is based
on Marzano’s book,
Classroom Assessment and Grading
that
Work.
We can help systems use classroom formative assessments that
provide accurate feedback and encourage students to progress
toward standards. We also provide training and support as
districts move toward standards-based grading and reporting.
-
Building
students’ academic vocabulary. This work builds on Marzano’s
books,
Building Academic Vocabulary and
Building Background Knowledge for Academic Achievement. We can help
systems identify essential academic vocabulary and then use
a research-based process for insuring all students develop
strong academic language.
